Description

Valv means arch in Swedish. Inspired by the medieval wall around the small town of Visby, Sweden, the designer noticed the tension between the massive wall and its arch openings. The very shape of the half circle makes the opening in the heavy stone wall possible. Widely used all around the world for centuries the valve shape has become a symbol of an opening enhancing the tension between the outside and the inside. The shape of the arch has now taken a decorative and symbolic place in the Valv vitrine to intensify and frame the inside of the cabinet. 

This display cabinet can be ordered with a LED stripe in the top. The light is dimmable with a hidden touch sensitive sensor. To turn the light on, you simply touch the side of the right leg.

Lukas Dahlén

Lukas embarked on his educational journey at Uppsala University in Sweden where he dove into the aesthetics of art, only to find his true calling in the more tactile realm of fine art at the Cumbria College of Art and Design in the UK.

Deeply influenced by nature, he redefines 'form follows function,' seeing beauty as a core functionality. “The most functional and beautiful is found in nature,” he reflects. Lukas advocates for respectful material use, emphasizing, “Our challenge lies not in using nature, but in how we do it,” blending functionality with inherent elegance.
