Bayarmaa & Temuge for Materie Home

Meet the mother-daughter artisans who produced this first collection of pillows for Materie Home! Materie and Hangai collaborated closely with this remarkable duo who live and work in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The mother, Bayarmaa, laid the foundation for her family’s small knitting business in 1992, and two decades later, her daughter Temuge now leads the way, pioneering a new generation of knit styles and designs.

The luxurious fibers of these impossibly soft pillows are hand-combed by herders from Mongolia’s heartland, and every step of the production process, from harvest through spinning and knitting, is undertaken locally by a community of herders and artisans whose roots extend back to the ancient Silk Road.
